COVID-19 Update: A Message to Visitors from the Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce

We remain encouraged by the steadfast efforts of our communities to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in our region. Our businesses, associates and residents have been committed to compliance, working tirelessly to implement new guidelines and procedures to ensure safety. Thank you!
The Executive Order released by Governor Whitmer Monday, June 1, 2020 allows Michigan residents to travel for leisure with additional businesses opening throughout the state. All businesses and activities will be subject to safety guidelines to mitigate the risk of infection.
Executive Orders 2020-92 & 2020-110 and Leelanau
Some businesses in our region have decided to open adopting the safety measures outlined, while others have decided not to open or continue with a very limited "curbside" only option. We encourage visitors to check local business websites, social media pages, the Leelanau Enterprise or call the businesses to verify hours of operations, service limitations, and visitor requirements.
We encourage everyone to please adhere to the social distancing recommendations, respect our community, businesses and their associates by following the guidelines established and engage with grace and patience as we navigate these changes together.
Leisure trail is now permitted although some lodging provides have decided to delay opening while they adopt the various guidelines necessary to ensure the safety of their associates and guests.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has increased recreational access to park facilities following guidance of federal, state and local authorities. Beginning Friday, May 22nd the following will be open:
- Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail
- All park hiking trails and trail heads
- Picnic areas
- Parking areas Boat launches Dune Climb
- Vault toilets
The CDC has offered guidance to help people recreate in parks and open spaces prevent the spread of infectious diseases and mitigate risks associated with the transmission of COVID-19.
Visitors and locals are encouraged to download the new, FREE app named "NPS Sleeping Bear Dunes" that will provide a visitors' guide with the most current information available regarding access, events and more.
The Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is committed to work together with regional organizations to support our community to successfully return to business and re-engage our workforce and visitors. This opportunity to open a segment of our state has not come without great deal of thought and preparation with the goal of executing in a safe manner to protect the health and well-being of everyone.
