We are the oldest, continuing, non-profit, humanitarian organization in the United States. In Northern Michigan, we provide immediate support to families and individuals impacted by home fires and other disasters. We provide support to military families, active duty military members, and veterans. We also provide training in CPR, first aid, lifeguarding, and water safety. We work internationally to eradicate measles, provide disaster response support, and support our fellow Red Cross organizations across the globe. Money raised in Northern Michigan may be designated by the donor to stay here in Northern Michigan. For every dollar donated .91 is used for direct client support. We also accept donations on behalf of National Red Cross to support national-level disaster response, like hurricane relief. Our organization is largely volunteer run. Over 80% of our workforce are volunteers. We are actively recruiting volunteers in Northern Michigan to assist in our mission of "Alleviating human suffering."
