9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
There is also a strong need nationally, to develop our pipeline for workers. We have a unique event this year in Traverse City on Wednesday, May 22nd (9 AM to 3 PM) where we hope to do just that! This event (MiCareerQuest) first started in Grand Rapids, MI, and has taken off since then. Other cities throughout Michigan are hosting MiCareerQuest events as well and now it has a State wide brand.
This event is targeting 9th graders within our ten-county-wide region. We already have over 1500 9th grade students signed up! MiCareerQuest is not a career fair, but rather a large event where employers in high wage/high demand occupations will provide hands on activities at their booths for students to engage in, with the hopes of sparking an interest and being able to ask questions about certain careers.
MiCareerQuest crosses industry sectors and occupational titles coming from advanced manufacturing, healthcare, professional/technical, (including STEM related occupations), construction trades, Agriculture and Agribusiness, and Hospitality to name a few. There will also be representation from law enforcement, civil service and public safety that will be exhibiting.
MiCareerQuest TC is looking for more employers to exhibit. There is no fee at this time but we would be open to donations, which will be used for promotion and rental expenses at the Civic Center. We need employers at the table to develop their future workforce!
