Named for the large supply of timbers that grew in the area, Maple City is a quaint small town typical of Northern Michigan and Leelanau County. Maple City is the starting point for The Cedar Hilltoper's Snowmobile Trail, a state trail that runs from Maple City to Empire where it links up with other trails in Benzie County. Be sure to stop at Gabe's County Market for tasty homemade jerky and the freshest local produce in the summer months.
